Bakery Street has the absolute freshest croissants and foccacia bread. Some of my favorite turnovers have been the apple, almond cinnamon, and chocolate (microwave it for 30 seconds and the chocolate melts all warm and gooey on the inside). My dad loves the blueberry ones too. Their jalapeno pizza bread gives just the right kick. They all are only $1.00 too! The organic mini banana loaf is really really good - light, fluffy and just the right size. Their cookies make the best snacks....where do I begin! Their toasted coconut crisps, palmiers, red velvet cake, madeleines, brownie brittle, and gold coin fortune cookies are a definite MUST try, and have made me come back over and over again for more. Customer service has been amazing. Rebecca is warm and such a sweetheart. She goes above and beyond when I ordered my custom cake, making sure every detail was taken care of. This bakery is the best!

While they did accommodate an sheet cake order with only 3 days notice, the price was high ( $150 for a 80 persons sheet cake). I dont mind paying that much obviously but I expect AT LEAST a mediocre tasting cake. In addition, the cake was disgusting. We ordered vanilla cake and it kind of tasted like corn and was very oily/buttery. It had a fudge filling and the fudge is HARD and very poor quality. The receptionist who took my order recommended we use their cream cheese frosting and so we went with that, trusting her. She obviously didnt consider what these 3 components would taste like together. It tastes more like power sugar and..... just wasn't quite right. Save the money, go somewhere else.

I really like most things here. Love the fortune cookies and coins. A pretty big bag for just $1. The butter cookies and croissants are good. The Hawaiian rolls are excellent too!

We have used Bakery Street for custom cakes including our wedding and several birthdays. The cakes have always been spectacular!! We recently went in for a birthday cake and ordered a chocolate fudge cake with chocolate ganache, it was delicious (a small slice, goes a long way, it is rich, but not overly sweet). The theme was flamingos, so we asked for a lagoon on the top. They gave us a lagoon with little white caps on it, grass edges and the sides were decorated with tall thin grass leaves in different colors. When we added the pink flamingos, it was perfect. I have posted a picture of it. Another great job by Bakery Street.

First, this place is incredibly out of the way, tucked at the end of a cul de sac in an industrial area. I thought that I had discovered a true "hidden" gem when we pulled up. I got even more excited when I walked in and saw their large selection of baked goods, priced incredibly cheap. They are cheap for a reason! So bland and dry. I think Safeway makes better baked goods than this.

Bakery Street has the absolute best service and they're cookies and cakes are SOOOOOOO GOOD. I always get the banana bread and the chocolate lava cake!

I love this bakery so much! I always get the chocolate mini lava cakes. There's delicious and I seriously can't get enough!

When I think of bakery street the only thing that comes to mind is the word awesome! Their products are so good you just have to have more. This is not a regular bakery. Every time I buy a box of almond cookies I know exactly what they will taste like and the texture and feel of the food is always the same. The company is so consistent it could be franchised if it's not already.

Ordered a Yo Gabba Gabba cake for my baby boys 1st birthday party. Rebecca helped me out a lot to get the order perfect, she responded to questions quickly. I had to add 2 dozen cupcakes at the last minute for additional guests and they were very accommodating. I was nervous on my way in to pick it up but was EXTREMELY happy when I saw the PERFECT finished cake. It was well worth what we paid based on just the look of the cake but I was over the moon when we cut the cake and it was delicious on top of being the cutest cake I've ever seen. Thank you Bakery Street (and Rebecca!)!

Big disappointment! Nothing to see or taste here, so move along folks! A nondescript storefront tucked away at the end of an industrial cul-de-sac in San Leandro. I originally ventured here to check on their breakfast pastries to see if they might be a good spot to pick up treats for my coworkers. What I found was a cramped little office filled mostly with those round plastic tubs of small stale - looking cookies and brownie bites, much like you'd pick up from the supermarket on the way to a bbq. Small selection of old - looking bakery cakes. Breakfast pastries were almost non-existent, save for some old, soft cellophane -wrapped croissants. Feeling desparate, I bought a few cellophane-wrapped mini sweet loaves, which tasted awful! Sweaty and definitely like they were made from low-quality cake mix. I asked the girl at the front counter how long it would take to order a cake. The answer was 2 weeks. Then I got brave and asked her who they actually bake their goods for: Costco and Walgreens! I didn't even know Walgreens carried anything more than store-brand packaged cookies! So there you have it, folks. A big low-quality commercial bakery posing as some sort of "hidden gem" to pawn their old unwanted goods onto a local hardworking public# They even had the gall to post handmade "bake sale" signs around town with location arrows to look like some PTA or Little League benefit! Disgusting corporate greed to the hilt AND lousy products! If I could give this place negative stars, I would!

There cookies and breads are great!I give 4 stars because the prices are also great! I ordered a cake from here once and it looked awesome, I wish I could have said that about the taste though. I was disappointed about that, but the awesomeness of the cake still made me happy. It was for my daughter's bday and none of the kids liked the cake because it was too sweet. They were going to do oreo frosting in the middle and they used cream cheese

Picked up a red velvet cake here. It was quite dense and it felt like it weighed a ton! Saw a box of madeleines and got that as well. Felt like these wer All in all, I expected more from this place. Supposedly Costco carried their red velvet cake before making their own so I expected a more moist and tasty cake. For a $25 cake that would serve about 14 people, it was only ok. It was very crumbly and not very tasty.

Great little place. Low key, good selection, great prices, and friendly and helpful service. If you take the time to find this place, you won't regret it. I've almost forgotten how good wholesale prices on this type of stuff can be. Makes me cringe to buy them at a regular grocery store. Yes, they do have some random kinds of pastries, but they also have a very good selection of the stuff you'd expect to find. I liked that though the packaging is simple, it's not cheap-looking. Bags/boxes are well-sealed and labeled. They do not sell many things individually. Most things come in bunches, but it isn't a problem since everything is inexpensive. I was told that they have fresh stuff on Fridays and Saturdays, so those days might be the best, especially if you're going for the first time. Lastly, the woman working there said that during winter, they are not open quite as late on Friday nights.

The cake was a birthday gift for me from my boyfriend and it was fantastic! I don't know how they did all that detail, it was a Disney Stitch cake, two layers and I am only giving 4 instead of 5 because I kept being told it was supposed to be coffee flavored but everyone including myself swore it was banana. Still delish and I will be going myself for the pastries and cakes in the future. I will post a pic.

Just called in to discuss quotes on cake pricing for a birthday cake and I have to say, the woman who answered the phone was extremely rude. She cut me off before I could even finish my sentence and quickly directed me to email. Not the kind of customer service I expect from any business. Also, they charge $100 for any cake tasting which is flat out ridiculous. Wedding cake tastings (if they do cost anything) are never more than $25 and I wouldn't dare proceed to order anything from any business if I did not like the cake. No thanks

Two words..... PASTRY HEAVEN! This is a one of a kind type of bakery. It's like an outlet for all types of pasties. I was literally in heaven as soon as I walked in. The outside of the shop was quite shady because of where it's located and how the building looks. It is also hidden which makes it a little more shady. Going here would give you that factory-like vibe. Nevertheless, once you go in the shop, you'll forget about how shady it was outside. You'll be in pastry heaven, I'm telling you. Haha! They have a wide variety of pastries, cookies, madelines, cakes, and cupcakes to choose from. They even have cake pops, which is pretty cool. Oooooh, carbs carbs carbs!!!! Great way to spike your blood glucose levels. HAHAHA! Most of their pastries cost only a buck. Very very cheap! Dozen of cupcakes are $8 worth. Today they had vanilla, chocolate, lemon, and OMG RED VELVET! Of course, I got the red velvet. Their basic cakes are worth $15. I got a chocolate heart-shaped one. I wish I could taste the red velvet cupcake, but I got it for someone else. Next time though! However, i was able to taste the chocolate cake. It was delicious! Quick tip: warm it up a few seconds in the microwave, see the melted chocolate flow all over, take a bite and watch, you'll forget your name afterwards. Hahaha! I also grabbed a few pastries. I mean why not? They only cost a buck!! Lol so I got a cinnamon roll, apple crumb bar, raspberry crumb bar, and blueberry cheese danish. The cinnamon roll was my favorite. Maybe I'm quite biased on this one because I love anything cinnamon. Both crumb bars tasted divine. They're even yummier when heated up in the microwave for a few seconds. Great treat for someone with a sweet tooth! The blueberry cheese danish was ehhh. It tasted bland. The lady working here, which I'm guessing is the owner, was very sweet. She provides great customer service and she'll do anything she can to help her customers. One ghetto thing though was the sushi plastic bag that they used for my purchased goods. I guess it's good that they're recycling bags. Lol This is a cute little bakery shop. Cheap priced baked goods. Awesome customer service. Wide variety of yummy pastries. Overall, I had a great shopping experience. Will definitely come back to try other goodies to get that sugar high. Oh, and diabetes! :D

went back this past weekend and bought a lot of their lemon goodies and they were sooo bomb! (but again, i looovveee lemon). their lemon tart was very cute and was like a lemon bar with cream cheese frosting on. the wrapper was a little hard to take off but it was still really good and it also came in a really cute container. their individually wrapped lemon bars were good too and was the perfect companion to my morning coffee. they also put out freshly baked jalapeno pizza bread things when i was there and OMG, it's soo good fresh!!

First off this place is in an industrial part of San Leandro, so you really have to be craving sweets to be hunting down this place! And secondly the first time I bought from here it was on a Monday so the cupcakes were moist. I was excited that I bought 3 of each my favorite flavors lemon, chocolate and vanilla! So I decided to go back on a Friday this time..BIG mistake! I actually think they saved the cupcakes that did Not sell during the week and put them out to sell to the novice cupcaker!NEVER AGAIN. Taking my hard earned money else where. That is unacceptable for a business!

A definite hidden gem. The little bakery in the industrial area of San Leandro is a well kept secret. I love the freshly made pastries but the best part is the ingredients they use. Real butter and naturals fruits. You can't store them on a counter top for very long due to not having preservatives. I recommend freezing it and thawing out overnight. Simply decadent items a nice spread. I would love to take the credit of freshly home made goodies during meetings but my conscience won't allow it.

Yesterday I was in need of a last minute birthday cake to serve a class of 7th and 8th graders for my son's birthday. I found your bakery on Yelp and decided to call you because 1) your location was somewhat near his school and 2) your ratings on Yelp were 4 out of 5 stars. Although it was strange to me that you didn't accept credit cards, we agreed on the flavors (white cake with chocolate frosting) and payment method (cash at pick up). I'm a cake baker by hobby and have had some training so I was surprised at how heavy the cake was. I still took the cake to the school, but I knew immediately when I cut into the cake that I was in trouble. I had a class full of anxious kids and a bad cake. The frosting was about 1 1/2 inches thick on top and hard (not an expected nicely whipped butter cream). The cake was "sort of a pound cake" and not a white cake as requested. One of the kids commented that it tasted like "corn bread". But the most disturbing part was that it was not cooked completely in the middle. Literally uncooked. The kids threw their cake in the trash. We threw the rest of the cake in the dumpster at the school. NO ONE WANTED SECONDS and NO ONE WANTED TO TAKE THE REST OF THE CAKE HOME. This has never happened before. I love cake. I don't know that I've had a worse cake. Especially one that I paid $75 cash for. - I'm posting this only after sending this email to the baker and not hearing anything back from them.

I rarely yelp anymore but felt the need to do so. I was in the area for a birthday party but they asked me to get a last minute cake due to complications they had with their original plans and didn't want to stick with getting a Costco or Safeway cake. So I yelp'd this area which happens to be closest to where the party was being located. It's a weird location for a bakery (usually you expect it in the middle of a plaza or mall) but don't let the outside fool you. The cake was DE-LIGHTFULLYICIOUS. I got a cake red velvet and it didn't do me wrong. In fact, it might be one of the better ones I had in ages. Not too sweet, just the right amount of everything. FYI: They have Croissants for a buck. A BUCK! How can you complain about that? It sure beats Starbucks HE HE HE. In addition, I would like to say the young man who helped me was extremely professional and courteous to my schedule. I was rushing and he helped me fulfill the birthday girl's day of having the perfect cake after dinner. I believe his name was Aaron. For it's price, taste, and all around service you cannot ask for any better bakery around. 5stars!

If I could rate a zero star I would. I had previously purchased a cakes a few years ago (shortly after they opened), and aside from the cake not being very good, the location is convenient for us. I rushed after work today to get a quote for my son's 1st birthday party. The lady I spoke with with EXTREMELY rude!! She came off very abrasive, short and just flat out rude. She asked me how many people and I pointed to a cake I thought might be a good size. She responded very harshly with "like I said, how many people?" I let that slide and let her know it wasn't based upon the number of people since we have another cake. I showed her a sample picture and explained it didn't need to be exact and asked if there were any photos or ideas. In a harsh tone said "no we don't. What do you want?" And went on to try and give me a quote for their smallest cake for $200+ not including the decorations on the cake. I should have known better. Don't go here people! HORRIBLE customer service, dry cakes and WAY over priced!!

First let me say the good things: 1. Fridays and Saturdays they have pastries out for a good price. The chocolate croissants are $1 as are so many other delicious items like the jalapeno pizza bread. 2. They have big bags of Brownie Brittle for $5 and I think they are $10 at Costco. It was a big hit at one of my parties. 3. Friendly Staff 4. Red velvet cake cake and lava cakes were delicious. Now for the reasons for the 2 stars: 1. Red velvet cupcakes were dry and didn't really taste flavorful. 2. The lemon cake I ordered tasted like vanilla with a tiny tiny hint of lemon. The color was also a very pale yellow. 3. All I wanted was a cross on the cake and they estimated an additional $60 when the cake only cost $38. I just bought my own cake topper. 4. And the main reason for the 2 stars...my son's cake frosting melted! Only after about 1 1/2 hours, the buttercream slid off the cake. At first I thought it was maybe because it was hot, but the other cake I ordered stayed perfectly intact. I thought I found my go to bakery but it looks like I'm going to keep trying

I'd have to agree with Jenn B., I wanted this place to be great or even good but unfortunately it wasn't for the reasons Jenn listed; the pastries were dry and bland. Getting the packaged pastries from the super market is better.

I wanted to use cake pops as place card holders for my wedding, and decided to go with Bakery Street, as I'm familiar with them and was confident they wouldn't disappoint. Happy to say I was not proven wrong! :) I got 100 giant, gorgeous cake pops in my wedding colors. Everyone thought they were delicious and delighted to have cake before and after dinner! :D Rebecca was a pleasure to work with and the staff did such a wonderful job accommodating my schedule :) thank you!!

I am in looooove with Bakery Street and I want everyone to know. Thank you to my fellow yelpers! Time: Monday afternoon in the mood for something sweet. Location: I have lived in SL forever and this was the first time I was down the street the store is on. It's in an industrial area not where I would think a bakery would exist but happy that it does. Place: Large building at the end of a dead end street. Right when I walked in I was surrounded by sweets. There are counters and tables full of cookies, bars, scones, brownies, fancy breads, cupcakes and cakes in a case. OMG I was in sugar heaven. I didn't know where to start. Service: I was greeted by Rebecca. She is the nicest person ever. She gave me the background info on the company, what they make and how they started in SL they were originally in SF for 30 years. Everything they sell is made in the building. They also bake custom cakes and have a room displaying some of them. Wow they were incredible. She also informed me they sell breakfast type pastries on Fridays. I have a mental note to come back on a Friday to check it out. Sweets: Of course I had to buy a couple of things to try and support a SL business (I say that so I feel better about buying sweets I don't need haha) I bought a 4 pack of large raisin scones and pack of oatmeal cookies (which had about 24 cookies). The hub tried a scone and said it was very good. I tried a cookie and it was super soft, very fresh and not loaded with sugar. Price: Super affordable better than Safeway. I felt like I was stealing from them. A 4 pack of scones was $2.00 and the pack of cookies was $2.50. A total of $4.50! Yes, I said affordable. Misc. info: They only accept cash and check. No credit cards. I can't wait to try more goodies from here. They are very nice, great selection and local.

My review is solely based on a cake I ordered recently for my daughter's 1st birthday. I decided to try this place since I needed a bakery that was closer to the party venue. First off, Rebecca was friendly to work with and my entire correspondence was with her during the order process. Details were written specifically on what the cake flavor was for each tier and I presented them with a picture. The price however was a bit high which is why I went with a "presentation cake" which was smaller in size and was meant for "50" people. Cakes are expensive these days because most bakeries charge a good majority based on labor. My cake was a 6" top tier and a 8" bottom tier. The only fondant work were small stars and the words. The colors were shades of pink and purple. Unforunately, some shades of purple came out looking like a shade of gray. I had ordered the chocolate with chocolate frosting as the top tier which was delicious and firm to cut... plus my guests loved it. My biggest dissapointment was the bottom tier of my cake. It was contracted to be strawberries and buttercream filling but when we cut into it, it was only sugar syrup and very little strawberries. The cake basically fell apart as we were cutting into it because there was no buttercream. I was even surprised by the little amount of strawberries there were since I've ordered cakes from other places for a lesser price with A LOT of strawberries. The strawberries were a good part of my cake cost because of "labor." I wished I had switched the tier flavors. I'd definitely visit the bakery again for store goods but I think I might skip ordering a cake next time.. too bad, I was wishing it would've turned out better.

Do you want ANTS w/ that? I saw a trail of ants in the corner where they stacked all the cookies. I was going to pick a box up till I saw that. There was one walking on the shelf too. HORRIBLE "RED VELVET" CUPCAKES!I wasted $3.00 on them! I came here for the 1st time yesterday not expecting much. I'm glad I didn't. Anyone who likes their red velvet cakes have NO CLUE what red velvet is supposed to taste like! Red velvet is a combo of chocolate and a hint of cherry flavor. This place didn't put cocoa or any other flavor in the cake. The "red velvet" madelines looked interesting. Ate 'em, didn't like 'em. I tried their peanut butter, and choc chip cookies-that was a failure. I tried the cinnamon roll for $1.00 and it was ok--I like Safeway's or Costco's mini cinnamon rolls better. Didn't like the banana bread (and I loove banana bread). The zucchini/carrot was good. Like I mentioned in another review, Sam's Club's carrot cake is the best. Overall I wasted about $6 of the $9 I spent. I threw out 1/2 the stuff I bought, which is crazy. I never throw dessert out!Don't know how much longer they'll b around. Well, I guess as long as there are those who don't have a clue about what ingredients go into desserts they'll stay in business.

Hidden among the industrial warehouses in San Leandro is Bakery Street. The street is actually across from the new Kaiser being built and down the street from La Pinata for reference. Basically it looks like an office reception and a meeting room but like with cookies. Lots of cookies. But also other assorted baked goods (coconut squares, brownies, fortune cookies, almond cookies, and lots of other stuff). There's also a refrigerator case with red velvet and lemon cakes as well as banana and zucchini breads. Best thing about it is they are cheapppp (lots of the containers are $2-5), but most of the stuff is mehhh. I really like the madeleines, but that's just mostly butter so it stays nice and moist. The banan The other stuff isn't always consistent. Not exactly a place I'd come for baked treats (if I were to waste some calories on something), but if you needed some stuff in bulk cheap for a office party or something, this is the spot.

This place is a true gem and I'm glad I took the time to find it. Nice variety for tasty treats and really great prices: $1 for cake pops, $2 for cupcakes, various bags of cookies for $1-$2 and many more treats for under $5. Will definitely be back.

I Yelped this place, and decided to come by based on the reviews. I guess I'm not a red velvet person, because I didn't really care for the cupcakes. Overly iced, and a bit dry. The madelines were okay, and came at a great price, but were also slightly dry. The best item I had here was the carrot zucchini bread. It was moist, dense, and had outstanding flavor. This is highly recommended.

Looking for a place to pick up some dessert for my mom's birthday, I was excited to find Bakery Street on yelp the night before. So many 5 star reviews, how could it be wrong? The bakery is tucked away in an industrial area, but we followed the signs that said, "bake sale" and we found it without any problems. Once inside, we saw so many different baked goods... croissants, bear claws, cookies of all kinds, pizza breads, cakes, cupcakes, truffle cakes... all at very reasonable, actually bargain prices. I asked one of the staff which cake they would recommend and we went with her favorite, the Strawberry Vanilla cake. We also grabbed a raspberry croissant and pumpkin bear claw to go. We ate the pastries right away and they were decent. It did seem like the same dough was used for both the bear claw and croissant and it wasn't flaky like I thought a croissant should be. The raspberry flavor was spread evenly through the pastry and the pumpkin flavor was pretty good as well. But as I said, the pastry itself was so-so. But it was decent and what I might expect for a dollar pastry. We were all disappointed with the cake, as it was dry and hard. Perhaps it was because it wasn't rotated out of the display case in a timely manner, as I don't imagine this place gets much foot traffic (seems like they do a lot of special orders/direct orders). As a result, I ended up tossing half of it (and I very rarely waste food!). That being the case, I initially gave this place a two star yelp review. However, upon reading my review, one of the managers, Terry, reached out to me and graciously offered a refund for the cake as well as giving me a red velvet cake so that I could see what their cakes are really about. This time I enjoyed the cake with friends and family for my birthday celebration and there were nothing but positive comments about the cake. So yes, the red velvet here is the real deal!

Oh. Em. Gee. I think I just died and went to RVC heaven!!! Now listen closely all you Red Velvet Cake lovers, this is serious business. I recently found my all time best Red Velvet Cake evaaar from Bakery Street! My friend and I got into a discussion about RVCs last weekend and he raved that he had a really good one that was purchased from Costco awhile back. So with that in mind, I thought I could just casually drop into Costco and pick one up for our Superbowl party the next day. Disappointingly, it was no where to be found. I even asked about these and the Costco Employee told me it might have been seasonal since the last time they carried them was Christmas. And never mind that they go flying off the shelves when they are in stock! Wow. So now of course I'm really intrigued about this RVC and want one badly. My Mom happened to be at Costco one night this week and called me to let me know they had two heart-shaped RVCs left and she was picking them up for me! (Ok, this is the part where I have to tell you that as much as I wanted the 2nd cake for me, it was for my friend who told me about them in the first place.) That Costco Employee wasn't kidding when she said they go quick! Anywho, my first bite into this delicious, sweet, flavorful, and beautifully presented heart shaped Red Velvet Cake just about made me swear never to eat another Red Velvet Cake other than this one ever again! If you love RVC, you can stop looking for the best around because this my yelp friends, is IT. The frosting is sweet but not too rich. The cake is perfectly moist and I mean perfectly. And to top it all off, the sides are embellished with chunky flakes of red white chocolate. Perfection. For a second I thought twice about writing this review because I was being selfish and wanted to hoard all the Bakery Street RVC deliciousness to myself. But then I realized I would be doing Red Velvet Cakes an injustice if I didn't share this find with the world. And that's not to say that plenty of people don't already know about this treasure! According to their website, they do have plenty of other baked gems in the form of cookies, bundts, cupcakes, wedding cakes, and cakes with a variety of flavors and fillings. I'm just not sure if they retail or only wholesale their items. I'm truly hoping that they do retail (aside from just wedding cakes and cookie baskets) so that I know where to get my new, beloved RVCs when Costco runs out.

Went by yesterday to order a cake. The location is a bit out of the way an in an industrial area. We quickly found a parking and went inside. The place consists of two rooms with goodies about & some sample cakes in a case. The lady behind the window seemed friendly and I asked about a Birthday Smash cake for my little one's 1st BDay Pictures coming up next week. The lady told me the guy was not in and took my name and someone was suppose to contact me this morning but I never heard from anyone. Guess I won't be trying this place after all. :(

We did a baked goods tour of San Leandro today, and we were excited to try Bakery Street. As mentioned, it is in an industrial area, as it primarily provides stores like Walgreens (used to bake for Costco as well). Once we went in, there were some items we wanted to try. We had heard the red velvet cupcakes/cakes were good. Unfortunately they only came in a six pack ($6). Other items that looked good were too big or meant for a dinner party. There were some individual items, but most of them were not really what we had read about or were interested in. We settled in for a cinnamon roll for $1 and a loaf of hawaiian bread ($2). The cinnamon roll was nothing to write home about--it was just ok. A bit stale even. Hawaiian sweet bread was not bad at all--especially for the price. Also the variety they produced was impressive. That being said, I think we had a bit of a hard time actually buying anything. Most of the product looked just ok and whatever we were interested was either not in stock or packaged in a size too large for us (full cake, six pack of cupcakes). If you want a morning pastry and coffee, go to a donut store. If you want enough for your dinner party, come here. I recall (I think) trying the lemon cake at Costco and being impressed by that. And if you get a chance, give the red velvet a chance (seems like everyone else likes that--including customers who used to get it at Costco). However, because this is more of an industrial outlet, many things are not always available to try like the custard croissant or individual cupcakes/muffins. We went on a Saturday morning--and they recommended we come in on Friday when there was a full selection available.

Hidden behind the new Kaiser, ...Bakery Street, aaaaahhh!!!! Oh so yummy!! from the customs cakes to the cupcakes, to all the different pastries, you cant go wrong. During the week they have different pastries, but the weekend is the time to go! They have everything! and its on sale! Danishes, red velvet cupcakes, Madelines, even pizza! This is defiantly my go to spot when ordering my cakes or cupcakes for all my occasions. They work with your needs and your budget with is awesome for me since I frequent this establishment often :)

This place is a gem. Their CAKE BALLS are very delicious. Some of the items are gimmicky, but the CAKE BALLS and several items are just delicious.

Love the Bakery Street Outlet, even though you often get "Seconds" that don't make it to the store (hence the somewhat negative reviews) ..... Rebecca is a sweetheart ... plus she can give you the honest recommendations missing from the weekend "crew" ! As to the location .... you'll soon find a line out the door ... that is, once the huge Kaiser Hospital opens around the corner .... then you can endulge in all the pastries you want and just walk down the street to have your blood sugar tested .... or maybe not ! ha ha ha A loyal fan

came in with a mission to buy a red velvet cake for a b-day b/c red velvet is usually awesome the lady was friendly but apparently they charge $2 for writing on a cake. that is 25% of what the cake itself costs. HOLY SMOKES THIS CAKE WAS DRY. that was quite disapointing. the frosting was yummy though and saved it from being a disaster i would likely buy my cakes elsewhere next time

Bakery Street makes good baked goods and sells them at reasonable prices. The shop is located in an industrial area so it can be a bit tricky to find at first. My favorite items here are the custard croissant, sweet potato cream cheese muffin, and red velvet cupcakes. Sometimes they don't have the products in stock or they've sold out. If you really want a certain baked good, then you need to order them probably at least one day ahead of time or else you may be disappointed. If they don't have what I want, then I just try something else. Make sure you bring cash cause they don't accept cards!

???: Hi, Bakery Street, this is Rebecca, how may I help you? Me: Hi Rebecca, I was just wondering if you happen to have any red velvet cupcakes today Rebecca: Sorry, we don't happen to have any today. How many do you need and when do you need them by? Me: Oh, ok. I needed six of them by tonight for my dad's birthday, thanks anyway, just thought I'd call and check. Rebecca: Hold on, let me check the back room and I will call you right back. What's your name and number? Me: *says phone number* *says name* Rebecca: Hold on, I will call you right back. Couple of minutes later Cell Phone: Just Let Your Sooouul Glo, feelin oh so silky smooth *ringtone* Me: *answers* Hello? Rebecca: Hi Sean, we can have that order ready by 4:30pm (about an hour and a half later). Me: Oh, really? Ok, how much is it? Rebecca: That will be $6 Me: ...$6...a cupcake...? Rebecca: No, for the six. Me: ...*5-10 seconds of processing...think mouse clicker turning into an hour glass or spinning color pallet*... I will be there at 4:30. Thank you so much. Rebecca: No problem, see you then. Scene! Friendly, cheap, delicious. That sums up the entirety of my experience. I walk in, and I am instantly overloaded with cheap, colorful, quality, just great looking deserts and baked goods. I take a minute to browse before I inquire about my order. Rebecca comes out, asks if I am the one who placed the order. She says that they just happened to be filling an order of red velvet cupcakes, so she asked them to put some aside to be frosted for me. I get seven because they ended up putting aside seven... so I get seven cupcakes for $6. I start asking a little bit more about the place, it just seemed weird that they were in an old office building at the dead end of a bunch of factory/office buildings (which I found quite calming, actually), and she gives me a short history. Apparently up until 4 years ago, they supplied all of the red velvet baked goods for Costco; my mom actually remembered that about that time Costco had some of the best red velvet, then it went away, came back, and it was not as good. Rebecca gives me a tour of the main area. I ended up making an impulse purchase (few and far between for me) of brownie brittle, she said it was like eating the hard crust end piece of a brownie in every bite. I thank her again, tempt myself once more by looking at $8 dollar ready made 6" cakes in the display glass, and am on my way. The red velvet was delicious. The frosting was cream cheese based, so think Cheesecake Factory red velvet cheesecake if you've ever had it, only a lot lighter, and the red velvet itself was just plain good. Other places I was thinking of going sold cupcakes of less quality (and quantity) for at least triple this amount. I just want to say thank you to Rebecca for making my visit such a great experience and helping me out on my dad's birthday. And I still can't stop eating the brownie brittle. I will most surely be back when I run out. With ice cream it's like a brownie that never gets soggy. I highly recommend for catering and/or walk in, just make sure you call in first to see what they have on site that day.

I have been looking for a REALLY good cake bakery for our various birthdays. I'm quite tired of the average grocery store cake that isn't too bad until you consider they over-frost their cakes with extra think, sweet, frosting, to mask that the cake is pretty good. I think it is an inferiority complex: their cakes are not that bad but made worse with too much sweet added to the frosting. So I was looking for a local bakery I could count on to deliver a really fabulous cake, so I would not have to drive to College Avenue and fight for parking in No. Oakland just to get a really good cake. I was thrilled to find Bakery Street since I live in San Leandro already. The "storefront" is located in the industrial part of town and the inside looks a bit like an outlet, but the baked goods looked REALLY GREAT and perhaps they are. I didn't try the stuff on sale because I was there to purchase a pre-ordered birthday cake for my son's 6th birthday. However, the prices were very reasonable and to goods looked really delicious. We didn't need a highly customized cake but we did have a party theme. We had a few items already to put on top of the cake so I wanted to order a 1/4 sheet that had a few decorations to suggest a pirate ship (our theme). I met with the cake designer and he said he could put a ships railing, or a skull and cross bones flag -- and the price was under $40 for the quarter sheet so I was pretty stoked about finding a baker we could afford who also could do some customization. When we picked up the cake it looked really great! It had fondant railings and also the steering wheel of a ship and our added pirate items made it look really really nice. But why I'm writing this review is because the cake itself, as far as taste and moistness goes, was completely mediocre. In fact it was on the dry side. I was very disappointed. This wasn't because I'd spent so much money it should have been great no matter what... It was because I'd expected the factory bakery and custom cake order to exceed that. Honestly it was no better than a grocery store cake and maybe slightly worse. While grocery store cakes I've bought were not too bad, their downfall is often their excessive frosting, seemingly to cover the pretty good cake they thought they had to smother. But this cake wasn't excessively sweet, as if to cover up an average cake, but is was just too dry. So the nicely crafted customized design didn't do anything to make up for the fact that the cake wasn't really anything special at all. While the staff was very attentive and the outlet storefront foods are very inviting looking. I will not be going back to buy a cake for any special occasions.

Love this bakery: great prices, great pastries and goodies... friendly people! nothing fancy about their presentation, but they make TASTY treats! gingerbread men cookies ($2 a box), coissants, lemon bars, zucchini bread, carrot cake, brownies.... this is a commercial wholesaler with a store front. wholesale prices for anyone coming in. they also have custom cakes that LOOK fabulous. like Cake Boss cakes! :-) but haven't tried them yet. kinda remote, but it's near my office so i can't complain. it's a wholesaler, remember? a friend once told me: there's good, cheap and quick. you can choose two but you can't get all three very often. you can here!

Found this place on yelp and 4.5/5? Had to try this place out! Came by this afternoon to find a simple small cake for a birthday. There were a couple choices of cakes: red velvet, lemon, cappuccino, and chocolate. I'm sure there was a little more than that, like 1-2 more flavors I may be missing. I chose red velvet, a small size for $12. Not bad and couldn't wait to try it out. So bought this cake last minute for my mom's birthday. They said to keep it at room temperature if we were going to eat it tonight. And so we listened and kept it at room temperature. By the time my mom came home, which was about 9, she blew the cake and hooray we finally get to try out the cake. Unfortunately as my stepmom was cutting it and setting it on plates, we looked at the bottom of the cake and there was mold... We bought that cake just a few hours ago(we got to the store at around 4:30) and there's mold? I'm sure the cake was kept in that fridge for quite sometime.. So an expired cake and no cake to eat. A disappointing birthday night it was.

Very nice little selection of baked goods. Great prices and the service was excellent. The lady behind the counter came out to explain everything and wanted to make sure I had ally questions answered. Decided on the blueberry scones and they were pretty tasty. Can't wait to get one warmed up tomorrow morning with a hot cup o joe! 5 scones for $2 wasn't bad either!

BED.RED.VELVET.CUPCAKES.EVER! We pre-ordered about 50 of these for our black white and red party in Jan and they were super helpful, friendly, flexible and honest. Great business, and even better product! Love supporting these local jems now that we're San Leandro locals!

Very inexpensive bake shop. Went there about a month ago. Bought a few cookies tray and red velvet cupcakes. They were great except I went there on a Friday and there's barely any other cupcakes left besides red velvets. A little disappointing. I'll try to go very early next time.

Weird place to have a bakery but they just have the GREAT PRICES ! good service and friendly as well. They have a lot of choices for their pastries and I would definitely come back for me. Although I tried their red velvet cake but it just didn't taste like what I expect it to taste. The cake was not moist enough although the cream cheese filling was good.

The baked goodies here taste pretty good. However, be forewarned that this bakery is like a small commercial bakery that also does custom orders. They are not just a little hole in the wall that has one off cupcakes for sale. They do have small cakes and containers of cupcakes. I was disappointed when I arrived because from the reviews and pictures I expected to be able to go in there and purchase just one cupcake and in Red Velvet, the flavor everyone here is raving about! This was not possible and there was not a lot to choose from even if I wanted a pack - they were out of red velvet. I was told "oh just call ahead next time and give us 1-2 days". Really? For 6 cupcakes? They have lots of different goodies to choose from. I had some red velvet madeleines and they were good. I definitely suggest going here if you are close by and want to order a cake or buy a larger package of baked goods and not just a sweet snack. CASH ONLY!

This place is like a treasure hunt.. I have seen their items in many of the stores I shop at and then to find our they have a bakery opened to the public was a win win... Delicious bakery items and fair prices. It's family owned for many years.. We should all support this great bakery.

Sorry to put a damper on the long list of 5 star reviews of this place, but the cakes were really just slightly above your store-bought cake fare at wholesale prices. We tried the red velvet and cappuccino cakes ($8 each) and they tasted fine. The cream cheese frosting was quite good, but the cake itself was dry. The latter was solid on both fronts, but it didn't leave any lasting impression and had a generic density to it.

Love this place!!!!! A well hidden gem! Awesome prices for baked goods. They are the producers of the red velvet cake that Costco used to sell before Costco decided to make their own. They also have a gluten free macaroon cookies that tastes awesome. Will come here to order my kids birthday cakes.

What a wonderful Bakery, They have any kind of cookie plus some un knowns that are delicious. You smell the aroma of "Fresh Baked" miles away. No need for GPS or a map quest... follow your nose. The people there are very friendly and their professionally decorated cakes are incredible. I heard someone say they have been in business for 40 years or so. I went in on a Friday morning and the store was packed with people with cakes and cookies. I will definitely shop here again. Highly recommended.

Can I get an AMEN for this hidden gem in good ol' San Leandro?! I had been seeing these "BAKE SALE" signs around the way for awhile now. Conveniently after a trip to the bank on payday, I decided to follow the signs and find out what the "BAKE SALE" was all about it. And boy, am I so glad that I did! Turns out that the signs led me to the actual bakery...as in they make everything there fresh! And that's where it's distributed from. I walked into the small "storefront"...okay, it's kinda like a front reception area before their office and it was filled with tables of yummy treats galore. Mini cakes, cookies, loaf cakes, pizza bread...you name it! And their prices? Can we say cheap!? So far I've had their marble loaf cake, a few different flavors of mini cakes, pizza bread and some cookie samples. They got such a variety here. They're only open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays. The ladies working the counter are really nice and friendly. Although I'm not a red velvet fan, I will be trying theirs as I have seen it sold at Costco and majority of the reviews on here are raving about it. This is definitely my go-to place on Fridays to get away from work and stock up on some yummy goodies. By the way, cash or check only.

Bakery Street's Red Velvet Cake(RVC): the best I've tasted! OK, maybe my experience with RVC in general is not that extensive. But a great cake is a great cake: moist, delicious, and perfectly (not cloyingly!) sweetened. And that is what Bakery Street RVC is. I discovered their cake at Costco during the 2009 Christmas season. It looked like a red gift box with white frosting that made up the ribbon and bow. The taste was perfectly balanced. I felt like I could eat the whole cake myself in one sitting! I was sad to find out that it was a seasonal product at Costco. Since I live over 300 miles away from Bakery Street, I can't just stop by at their bakery whenever I want. I noticed Costco started to make their own Kirkland brand of RVC. I tried it, secretly hoping that they were able to duplicate Bakery Street's recipe. Alas, I was disappointed: a bit dry, slightly rough cake texture, and the frosting was barely decent. I guess I have to wait till next Christmas to get Bakery Street's Red Velvet Cake at Costco. :-(

Little treasures hidden in San Leandro. My friend and I went here to get our friend a red velvet cake for his birthday and we got two 6 in. for 16.00 / 8.00 each and they were AMAZING. Also had other things like cookies and bread and these pizza bread for a dollar each around the lobby part. I will be seeing how much there bigger cakes are sometimes this year...

Don't get me wrong the cakes and cookies are delicious and reasonably priced, but when I asked for a quote of a custom cake for an Anniversary party they wanted to charge me $6.00 a slice, with approx. 150 people he said it will be between $600-$900, that was more then I wanted to pay even if the cake was delicious.

I'm not going to lie, all I wanted to do was drive donuts around the spacious culdesac Bakery Street is situated on. It's huge and clearly there's people who have done donuts on this street already. Ok so maybe I kid, no donuts for me, but I did indulge myself in the $2.50 large bucket of Madelines. They are so light and buttery and are far tastier than those of Sugarbowl's (the Madelines you can find at Costco). On top of the pastries like raspberry/lemon shortcakes and oatmeal raisin cookies, Bakery Street also sells large cupcakes for $10 in a variety of flavors. This is a great place to purchase cheap and delicious dessert for office meetings and/or family gatherings.

Pumpkinliscious My first time at Bakery Street was a little rocky. But Terry, who is a very caring person, made me feel like I was an important customer, she listened to my concerns, and turned the rocky road into smooth sailing. I can tell you that this is the place you want to check out. The pumpkin cake...OMG....awesome. My son who really isn't into pumpkin loved this cake. And the white chocolate rum truffles, let's just say they were inhaled. The prices are great. The people are great. A hidden treasure. Just follow the signs that say bake sale. You'll love this place.

I love stopping in to Bakery Street. There are always so many yummy treats to look at, and all at such a good price. I really enjoy the scones and croissants, and their mini chocolate mousse cake was delicious. I have never had one of their fancy cakes, but I am sure I will try it when the time permits. My mom hates when I go there because I bring home so many things. It also helps that the employees are so sweet and helpful. I look forward to my next visit.

Yes I'm a big fan of this bakery too! I've not tasted the red velvet cake but have tried the RV truffles and they are amazing! This little jewel of a bakery is tucked away in the industrial part of San Leandro but just follow the "bake sale" signs and you won't miss it. As amazing as the baked goods are that's how great the staff is!

i was given a heart-shaped red velvet cake 2 years ago, & i will NEVER forget that it has always been the moistest, most delish red velvet i've had! i live in south cali & was soooo bummed to find out the bakery's from san leandro! :/ trust me, i travel 30miles just for a slice of the best RVC we have on the area... might i add that it's along jammed 405? next week my hubby & i will be going to SF & i wouldn't miss going here for sure. It is THE BEST. after 2 years and several RVC's have i tasted, Bakery Street has the best. sadly i dont see their RVC in costco anymore :/

this place gets 5 stars alone for the nice ladies behind the counter and for being a local San Leandro place for years. We have been seeing "bake sale" signs around town while driving home so decided to check it out one day. they are located on a street off fairway by the new kaiser hospital site. They are open to the public, I think she said Friday & Saturday and here's the best part: THEY SELL THAT AWESOME RED VELVET CAKE THAT IS ONLY AT COSTCO DURING THE HOLIDAYS! We tried a smattering of goodies- vanilla shortbread were simply awesome, as were the chocolate dipped palmiers. The jalapeno foccacia was just great as well, and we also tried tiny mini bundt size red velvet and pumpkin cake- both a steal at about $1.00! I have to say- this red velvet cake beats the sweet potato pie company's red velvet---any day, any way!! so, the next time you are hankering for some red velvet and are in San leandro on a Friday or Saturday, do yourself a favor and map quest a trip to Bakery Street. Support a locally run bakery and satisfy your sweet tooth at the sane time!!!!

I was craving sweet pastries. Not the usual let-down pastries that look good (but taste pretty bland). I emailed, to ask if they were open and got a very fast reply confirming they were open to the public on Fridays. You walk in and are surrounded by an entryway *full* of so many different pastries. I knew I was in trouble (since I wanted to try everything). I was greeted by a very friendly and courteous duo of ladies that explained just how fresh the ingredients were. I picked up more than 1/2 dozen differnt kinds of things (cookies, cupcakes, 7 layer bars, even some kind of focaccia-like thing). I got home and hit them like a homeless kid's 1st meal. OMG! I think y eyes rolled up into the back of my head after trying one of those 7 layer bars. I now have to resist the temptation of driving there every weekend.

I placed a last minute cake order for my Son's birthday in early May. Calling from San Diego, I relied on yelp reviews for a bakery close to Hayward where my son lives. Bakery Street, Rebecca especially, was extremely helpful and efficient. My order was filled and delivered with thorough follow up from Rebecca. Service is outstanding, hope to get an opportunity to taste the product! Was assured that the coconut cake was delicious!

LOVE this place!! I found out about it a couple of weeks ago and already it has become part of my weekly shopping. Great cookies, super lemon bars (mouth watering as I type), croissants and all at super prices. The staff is really friendly and cares about the quality of the pastries. And I feel good about supporting a local business. Elastic pants are in my future.

Love! I needed a plain 6in cake covered with black fondant to finish off my fiance's Raiders Cupcake Tower (needed it plain because I had a friend add her personal touches and "Raider it out") and to my surprise most bakeries require a minimum to make a fondant cake for instance one other San Leandro bakery said it was $100 min just to use fondant but thankfully I found this place who did a 3 layered 6in carrot cake for about 1/3 that cost and it came out perfect and tasted yummy! We'll be back for possibly our wedding cake and for sure try to RVC everyone keeps talking about.

I went to Bakery street in a semi panic about a week before my son's first birthday. I worked with Richard, gave him some general direction, and gave him creative freedom to take it from there. I was SO impressed at the cake design and quality. It was delish!! Normally I throw out extra cake so as not to be a complete fatty, but I couldn't do that this time. It was just too good. I am a big fan and will go back as well as pass this recommendation forward. Hell I might even make up a reason to need some baked goods. Job well done Bakery Street!

I got a red velvet cake for my son's birthday here and everyone loved it!! Love their "Bake Sale" on the weekends. They always have a really nice selection of goodies to choose from. Another favorite is their banana nut bread. My hubby & I argued over who would get the last piece. It was that good!!

My search for the best red velvet cake is officially over courtesy of Bakery Street! Bakery Street makes the best tasting red velvet cake hands down! Their red velvet cake is absolute perfection both in taste and decoration. The frosting is the perfect amount of sweetness, and the cake is really moist, mildly cocoa-flavored (just how i like it) and just really really yummy! I can tell they use very high quality products in their cakes. White chocolate lovers rejoice since the sides of the cake are covered with yummy pieces of white chocolate dyed in red. Aside from the fantabulous taste of their cakes, their service is also top notch. I know that they usually have their red velvet cakes at Costco during Christmas. The other day I visited my local Costco and noticed that they started making their own red velvet cakes in their own in house bakery but I could just tell from their appearance that they weren't a spot on Bakery Street. I was craving the Bakery Street red velvet cake from Christmas, so I thought of just calling Bakery Street directly to see if there were any other places that I could buy a cake since they are a wholesaler. The lady on the phone Teresa answered was super nice and although she said there weren't other places in my area that had the cakes, she said I could come to Bakery Street and come get a cake since they had three available. I live about 25 minutes away so by the time I got there it was late evening but Teresa was really kind enough to stay in late for us. She was super nice and told us a lot about the other cakes they sell as well. The price of the cake was great too, $32 for a big rectangular cake which must have been around 4 pounds. So if you are in the mood for the best red velvet cake ever, Bakery Street is your place. I am not sure if they regularly take orders directly from customers but its totally worth calling, they might even start doing retail if enough people call :)

Ordered one hundred plus "jumbo" cupcakes for my son's party and every guests that ate those cupcakes were raving about it. We ordered red velvet, chocolate and lemon flavored cakes... It was delish! They were so moist and very flavorful. We'll be ordering again in the future!!!
